Learning about Pens and Pencils

Recently, two of the reading groups in the class read a book called Pens and Pencils.
The children were really fascinated about how children used to write with slate pens on slate boards and then ink pens. The ink pens had to be dipped in ink and later there were ink pens that could be filled from an inkwell.

Cooper brought in a fountain pen that belonged to his Dad. The children could see the nib at the end of the pen where the ink came out of. We carefully unscrewed it and took the top off the pen and inside, we could see the ink in a plastic tube..it was fascinating!
The best part was, Cooper showed us how to write with it and then, we could all have a turn writing with the fountain pen. Thanks Cooper!
